Welcome to the website for Mine Ventilation, Health and Safety Research Group.
This research group is led by Dr. Guang Xu, who works as an associate professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T).
The research group focuses on mine ventilation, health and safety related issues, and has the ability to conduct multidisciplinary, fundamental, and applied research. It has a comprehensive particle analysis and mine ventilation laboratory that is capable to undertake robust experiments required in variety of research areas. The group has members with strong research backgrounds in mine ventilation, fire safety, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), air pollution, environmental engineering, surface chemistry, and experimental design. The group also collaborates with top researches and institutes from Australia and China. It is promising to produce the state of the art research outcomes that benefit the mining industry.
Dr. Guang Xu is an associate professor at Missouri S&T. He earned his bachelors degree at China University of Mining and Technology, and Ph. D. at Virginia Tech, all in Mining Engineering. Before joining MST, he worked 6 years as a faculty at Curtin University. He is an internationally recognized researcher who has graduated 4 PhD students and 2 master students, published 50 peer reviewed papers, and led over one million funded research projects. He has contributed significantly in the broader scientific and professional community by acting as member of organizing committee, the vice chairperson and session chair for the Australian Mine Ventilation Conference, and session chair for the 2018 International Mine Ventilation Congress.
